Approaching its 17th season, the Credo Chamber Music festival has established itself among the nation’s top summer institutes for pre-professional string instruction. With a faculty from prestigious conservatories (Eastman, Oberlin) and respected orchestras (Chicago and Pittsburgh symphonies, Cleveland Orchestra), the Credo festival attracts talented students from across the country and around the world.
Born out of a desire to address the personal, spiritual and artistic growth of young musicians, the singularity of the Credo festival derives from an emphasis on faith and service to others. Once per week students take a ‘break’ from their studies, volunteering at local nonprofits and performing for those who do not have easy access to the arts. By performing at nursing homes, hospitals, centers for disabled individuals and inner-city youth centers, Credo brings the gift of music to marginalized communities, helping both students and audiences realize their shared humanity.
