Description
The Cooperative Fund of New England (The Cooperative Fund) is a nonprofit 501(c)3 certified Community Development Financial Institution that makes loans and provides technical assistance to cooperative businesses, worker-owned enterprises, and community-based nonprofit organizations in New England.
In 2006, the Cooperative Fund turned thirty years old. Over the last three decades, it has raised nearly $13.1 million from social investors to make 371 loans to new or expanding businesses. Its borrowers have used these loans to create or sustain 5,159 jobs; 2,751 units of housing; and thousands of membership and business ownership opportunities. In addition, the businesses the Cooperative Fund has financed have brought necessities like food, education, childcare, and healthcare into underserved rural and urban communities throughout New England.
