Etz Chaim’s Tzedakah and Tikkun Olam/Bikkur Cholim Committee has had a very busy year. “Tzedakah” is not simply the giving of charity, but rather an expression of Righteousness, Justice, Truth and Kindness. Tzedakah and Tikkun Olam refer to our moral obligation as Jews to promote change in Society, to provide for the betterment of all people, and to help heal the world that we live in. We have fed the hungry through Food Drives, clothed the homeless, assisted the lives of abandoned children in Israel, delivered food and meals to the elderly and frail, supported events for Breast Cancer and AIDS and other disabilities, brought a ray of light to Children during Hanukkah, supported the victims of hurricanes, and this year, your TTO committee members have taken our Tikkun Olam responsibilities a step further by serving as members of Jewish Family Services Chevra Kadisha Society.
