Description
The Conemaugh Valley Conservancy promotes the conservation and preservation of natural, cultural, and historic resources and encourages prudent land-use practices by restoring and enhancing land and water based resources and developing low-impact recreation opportunities.
Key projects include the West Penn Trail, a 17 mile rail-trail between Saltsburg and Blairsville; the Stony-Kiski-Conemaugh River Sojourn, a multi-day paddling event designed to connect people with their local waterways; White Water Park, a distinctive 300 yard river park that provides for year round boating activities; and Kiski-Conemaugh Stream Team, which develops environmental stewards by engaging citizen volunteers through its Water Monitoring Program and educating thousands of students through its Environmental Education Program.
