Companions For Life was formed to fill the most obvious and significant gaps in the animal welfare movement in our community – humane education and shelter outreach. It is our belief that by providing humane education and shelter outreach we can elevate the role of companion animals in our society and bridge the gaps in animal welfare in our community and nationwide.

Humane education is essential to building a society that places significant value on the role of companion animals. It is a vital component of character education and violence-prevention and encourages a culture of respect and compassion. Violent acts toward animals have long been recognized as indicators of a dangerous trend toward violence to humans, and humane education can break the cycle of abuse
