Description
Founded in 1970, the mission of CYC is to empower and strengthen high-need Asian youth and their families by providing comprehensive youth development through education, employment training, advocacy, and other supportive services. 3,000 Asian Pacific Islander youth and their families are impacted by CYC and its programs, comprised of six components - Education, Intervention, Leadership Development, Prevention, Street Outreach, and Workforce Development.
CYC is the only agency of its kind serving at-risk Asian youth in San Francisco. Its goals are to provide youth with opportunities to develop caring and supportive relationships with adults and peers; encourage involvement in positive activities and supportive institutions; help develop academic, social, emotional, and vocational skills; and work to strengthen immigrant parents' confidence in their role as parents, parenting skills, and increase access to resources and understanding of their children's experiences in America.
