Community Options has a long history of service to individuals with developmental disabilities. For thirty years, we have been a community based non-profit agency whose primary focus is helping people become self sufficient through productive work, building social relationships, and assisting each person to achieve a valued role. The Agency began as a sheltered workshop then disbanded the workshop in 1981 as we changed our focus toward individual employment. As a result, we assisted in the development of local businesses that were committed to hiring the people we serve. This was done in an effort to provide consumers with opportunities for working in more natural settings and the chance to learn more challenging work. Over the years, we have realized that we should not be in the business of creating new businesses but instead be in the business of providing support to others. As a result, we now support the developmentally disabled in a variety of businesses throughout the area.
