COMMITTED Nepal is a tax-exempt non-profit organization under section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. IRS Code and approved as a non-governmental organization (NGO) under Social Welfare Council (SWC) regulations of the Government of Nepal. Founded in 2004, COMMITTED's mission is to provide balanced health, uncompromised safety, and essential welfare to communities in Nepal. COMMITTED strives to fulfill its mission by fighting poverty, illiteracy, and environment and health degradation.
Poverty, illiteracy, and environment and health degradation are interrelated and keep the vicious cycle turning until one or more components is addressed. Poverty stricken families are hesitant to send their children to school, and hence lack understanding for balanced environment, hygiene, and health. An illiterate person will most likely not come across opportunities to increase household income thus eliminating any opportunity to break the cycle of poverty.
We are a group comprised of two voluntary boards and mostly volunteer staff members located in two different, but relevant regions: Nepal and the United States. All are volunteers except for a few paid staff members in Nepal. In unison, both groups formulate projects, solicit funds, and carry out implementation. Based on need, projects are conceptualized and prioritized. In Nepal, COMMITTED is registered as a non-governmental organization (NGO) and goes by the name Samudayik Sadasya Heet or Community Members Interested, Nepal.
