Description
Organized in 1994, CHIP is a non-profit organization whose target population is low-and-moderate-income (LMI) persons. CHIP promotes homeownership through outreach & educational activities. In 2005 the Ohio Valley Saves campaign was introduced by CHIP. This coalition is comprised of community groups, financial institutions, employers, schools, government entities, places of worship, & others. The Ohio Valley Saves campaign targets LMI individuals and is open to everyone recognizing that we as Americans are experiencing the lowest savings rate in our history. This initiative works closely with the Northern Panhandle EITC Coalition which was formed in partnership with the WV Alliance for Sustainable Families. This was done in an effort to create awareness of the EITC & the local VITA sites. Ohio Valley Saves is the first WV initiative to be created.
