Description
The Community Enrichment Center works with victims of domestic violence, homeless families and the hungry in Tarrant County, Texas. The CEC runs: the Adopt-A-Family Program for homeless families, a Community Ministries Program which addresses immediate needs of low-income people, the Open Arms Program for victims of domestic violence, and an Affordable Housing Program.
The CEC owns or has access to 134 housing units. 84 are for the homeless families or for women and children who are fleeing domestic violence. The remaining 50 are designated as affordable housing. In 2006, the CEC provided safe and secure housing for 99 families including 231 children in the Adopt-A-Family Program and another 39 women and 85 children in the Open Arms Program.
The Community Ministries Program distributes 1,000,000 pounds of groceries to over 31,000 low-income people each year.
