Description
The mission of Colorado AIDS Project (CAP) is to improve lives affected by HIV and AIDS and to prevent HIV Infection. Specifically, CAP works to: •Empower people living with HIV/AIDS by providing services that enable individuals to achieve the maximum quality of life possible. •Prevent new HIV infections by educating at-risk populations - with culturally competent messages - about HIV and how to protect themselves and others. •Ensure CAP is a stable, professional agency providing the most effective, efficient care and prevention services through long-term strategies and collaborations with other agencies and resources in the state and the nation.
Founded in 1983, Colorado AIDS Project (CAP) was the first community-wide response to the HIV/AIDS crisis that was devastating the Denver metro area. Today, CAP continues as the largest community based organization responding to the ongoing HIV/AIDS crisis in Colorado. Since its inception, CAP has served over 9,000 HIV positive people.
