Description
In large cities across the United States, thousands of children are growing up in dilapidated motels – places no longer suitable for tourist trade; places where crime and chaos thrive but children do not. Metro Denver is no exception. Approximately 50 motels line Colfax Avenue and children are residents in all but a few. The mission of the Colfax Community Network (CCN) is to provide children and families residing in low-income, transient housing (primarily residential motels) along Colfax Avenue with information, advocacy, services and programs that will strengthen and improve family and community life.
CCN operates seven programs that support our mission. The After School Program, Summer Camp, Teen-Girls Support Group, Access To Services, Family Night, Mom ‘n Tot’s Support Group and Emergency Food Bank; each program works to develop self-sufficency and relieve the pain of poverty along the Colfax Corridor.
