Description
The Foundation was established in 1982 and our mission is to develop leadership among Detroit’s youth through educational preparation. Our Programs are: 1. SCHOLARS PROGRAM: The Scholars Program provides financial support of $20,000 to help fund education costs. Scholarships are eligible at four–year accredited historically black colleges and universities & four-year accredited colleges/universities in the State of Michigan; 2. SCHOLAR ALUMNI ASSOCIATION: College graduates of the scholar program maintain active involvement with the Foundation by giving back in several forms, as donors and serving as mentors to current scholars; 3. POST SECONDARY READINESS PLANNING (PSRP) PROGRAM: The PSRP program is a 10-Week after-school program. The program was expanded in 2003, with a grant from the Skillman Foundation, to support 8th and 9th graders. There is also a companion program for parents.
