Clean Air Now was one of the first groups to address air quality issues in California.
CAN was founded in 1969 to publicize the health effects of air pollution and to promote clean air strategies. CAN is unique - it conducts educational programs and projects that demonstrate ways to improve air quality which make a significant positive impact on public health.
In 1991 CAN adopted as its primary program the advocacy of clean, renewable hydrogen energy technologies.
CAN has held contracts with the US DOE, South Coast Air Quality Management District, and US DOD.
Our new education program , the Clean Air Challenge, has received sponsorship from Shell Oil, Chevron, SCE, and government agencies.
Our Board of Directors include prestigious members of the environmental community in Southern California. We have presented our investigations worldwide.
