Description
The Cicatricial Alopecia Research Foundation is the world's only organization that assists patients and families with cicatricial alopecia, a group of disorders that destroy the hair follicles in otherwise healthy people and replace them with scar tissue, thereby causing permanent hair loss. Cicatricial alopecia is also associated with severe pain, itching and burning, as well as extreme emotional distress. In addition to patient support and educational outreach, CARF raises funds for research that will help find the cause of these permanent forms of hair loss and ultimately lead to effective treatments and a cure.
