Christ’s Foundry United Methodist Mission is located in a neighborhood where the
Hispanic population accounts for over 90% of the 48,000 people in the area. Over
13,000 children under the age of 13 live within two miles of the mission. Over 80% of these children are “limited English proficient,” and 99% of the children are on subsidized lunches.
The challenges facing this community include high crime rates, high drop-out rates, teen pregnancy, gangs, drug use, and domestic violence.
Christ’s Foundry United Methodist Mission seeks to provide care and support for people’s educational, social, physical, and spiritual needs through
--after-school and summer academic enrichment programs,
-- peer support groups
