Description

Choctaw Food Bank,an established non-profit organization, began in 2005 serving 15 families a week and has grown to 280 families in one distribution day (Wednesdays 12:00 to 6:00) and currently have over 1,000 registered households. We provide food free of charge to the needy of Van Buren County, Arkansas and surrounding counties. Choctaw Food Bank is the only assistance of it's kind in this county. Each household fills out a short questionnaire; no other qualification is necessary. We are a rural community with no job opportunities to speak of. We see 20-40 new families each month come to us for help. We operate solely on small donations and small grants. We have no paid staff and use 25 dedicated volunteers to assist with this project.
