In November 2001, Montefiore Medical Center opened The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore in response to an urgent need to provide health care for 460,000 of the poorest and most medically underserved children in the nation. The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, a 10-story, 106-bed tertiary care facility, opened to rave reviews, and has been described as “the most technologically advanced children’s hospital in the country, if not the world” by the President of the National Association of Children’s Hospitals. The Children’s Hospital combines a unique blend of compassionate and expert medical staff, state-of-the-art technology, a stunning physical design, and a philosophy of family-centered care.
