Description
The mission of The Children's Book Bank is to improve literacy and kindergarten reading readiness by providing personal collections of read aloud books to at-risk preschoolers Portland. The Children’s Book Bank is a grassroots community effort organized to close the book gap for children living in poverty. The Children’s Book Bank provides a system for collecting donations of new and used children’s books. Volunteers sort, clean, and distribute bundles of a dozen or more books for low-income children to take home and keep free of charge. We are committed to addressing one of the most important factors affecting literacy – access to books.
