Description
The C. R. Keith Arboretum is a 22 acre arboretum in Orange County, NC created to preserve a large and diverse collection of temperate woody tree and shrub species for the future that can be studied and enjoyed by horticultural students, professional horticulturists, and the general public. The collection - 5,000 labeled species, is a source of unusual plant material for propagators and will provide a test site for species never before grown in the Piedmont area of North Carolina.
A charitable foundation was created in 2005 although, currently the arboretum is funded entirely by Dr. Keith's retirement funds.
