Center for Therapeutic Recreation


The Center for Therapeutic Recreation is a nonprofit organization that provides professional, community-based recreation services and training in Southern Maine to individuals and groups, regardless of disability, as a means to improve physical and emotional health, wellness, and independence. Therapeutic and adapted aquatics is the cornerstone of the center's program. Swimming classes include therapeutic approaches and handling, and instructional sessions for children and adults with special needs. Swimming classes and therapeutic programs are offered for children age 6 months and older. Classes are available for young children through adult. Other activities offered by the center include an an adult social recreation program that focuses on developing social skills among participants utilizing the medium of arts and crafts
