Description
The mission of Center for Individual & Family Effectiveness is to address individual and family system needs that result from emotional and psychological trauma. Individual and group therapy sessions are provided to juvenile sexual offenders and their family members to both alleviate that trauma and to prevent recurrence of the offense.
Trauma-focused cognitive-behavioral therapy is used to treat the offending youth and the traumatized family members.
For youth who complete the treatment program, the recidivism rate is extremely low (3%-5%) compared to that for other programs (12%-16%) and for non-treated youth (40%-53%).
The Center for Individual & Family Effectiveness is the only agency to provide services to juvenile sexual offenders in the greater Chattanooga area. It is also the only agency that serves clients on a weekly basis; similar agencies rarely see clients more often than once a month.
