The Center for Autistic Children is a private, non-profit specialized clinic that treats children who are autistic, atypical, pervasively developmentally delayed or who have severe emotional disturbances and sever communication problems. The Center provides a wide range of services in homes, schools and day care in order to truly reach autistic individuals in their community. The Center for Autistic Children was the first clinic to specifically treat autism and has been in continuous operation since 1955. Its services include a specialized mental health program exclusively for treating children, adolescents, and adults on the autistic spectrum in the Philadelphia area.
