Description

Catholic Charities Caregivers Support Services focuses on responding to local caregiving needs in 14 counties in the NY capital region. The agency serves all people regardless of race, religion, or lifestyle.

The complexity of providing Elder Caregiving respite services in 14 counties has grown as the demand is increasing and this agency DOES NOT Charge Caregivers for its services. This agency and its programs are completely operated from grants, donations and some state and county contract.

At the same time, the increasing demand for Kinship Caregiving services (mostly grandparents raising grandchildren) made it imperative to expand the agency’s role in working with the relatives raising children. In 2009 the Kinship Caregiving program expanded into its third county. Again there is NO CHARGE to the caregivers.

Our goal for both programs is to keep families together and at home for as long as possible rather than placing family members in facility based care.
