Description
The San Francisco Court Appointed Special Advocate (SFCASA) Program recruits, screens, trains, and supervises volunteers from San Francisco's diverse communities who advocate for and mentor children involved in Dependency proceedings. SFCASA is the only agency operating in San Francisco dedicated exclusively to providing individually tailored advocacy and mentorship to children in the Juvenile Dependency Court system.
SFCASA volunteer advocate/mentors are sworn court officers trained to work one-on-one with these children, to assess individual needs, to advocate for necessary services, and to serve as trusted mentors and friends.
The SFCASA volunteer's commitment is intense, and his or her impact on the child's life is significant. SFCASA is the only agency operating in San Francisco providing court appointed volunteer advocacy and mentorship exclusively to this group of highly disadvantaged young people.
