Description
Court Appointed Special Advocates is an organization that recruits, trains, and supervises community volunteers to advocate for kids that have found their way into the juvenile court system through no fault of their own. The volunteers (CASAs) have been appointed by a juvenile court judge to monitor juvenile court cases and ensure that the children are receiving the services that have been ordered and make recommendations based on their own investigations. A CASA meets regularly with the child or children and their families as well as teachers, doctors, therapists, social workers, and other parties to the case. It is the goal of the CASA, as well as the program, to see that a child is not left to languish in an over-burdened foster care system and finds their way to a safe, permanent home.
