Description
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children of DC is a non-profit organization providing a voice in the court system for victimized children who have been abused or neglected. CASA recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers known as CASA’s. Our volunteers work with these children through five specialized programs: CASA Plus, Family Drug Treatment, Dual Jacket, GLBT Youth and Leadership. Each of these programs provides a specialized service helping meet each child’s individual need. Our volunteers promote the best interests of children by researching and gathering relevant information that they present to judges. The information CASA volunteers gather and the recommendations they bring before the court and judge are facts that ordinarily might be overlooked. These recommendations lead to better education outcomes and safe, loving, permanent families.
