Description
The Carroll County Ohio Historical Society was formed to help preserve the McCook House, a civil war era home. It has also developed a collection of historical buildings including a steam mill which still grinds grain, a one room school house, a festival site on a small farm, an arboretum, a two story log cabin (0nce a stage coach stop) and 4 other log cabins which were moved to the farm site and restored. A three day festival with a juried craft show, demonstrations of old time skills including sorgum production, applebutter production and fresh ground wheat flour and corn meal is held every fall. Our next major project is attempting to stabelize and restore a unique limestone and brick home which may have served as a stop on the underground railroad.
