CRRA is dedicated to the successful resettlement of refugees, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or place of birth. CRRA welcomes refugees and asylees from many countries, who range in age from infants to over 60 and are Christians, Moslems, Jews, Buddhists, Hindus and Baha’is. Some have lived in refugee camps for many years; some were ill-treated, tortured or driven out of their birth countries. Most can never go home because their lives are in danger. CRRA provides direct services to ensure that refugees have the best opportunities to begin new lives in the U.S.
The agency has resettled some 2,000 refugees from 32 countries. This Federal fiscal year, CRRA will resettle a record 300 refugees in Charlotte. Refugees are a welcome addition to Charlotte’s population as they are very good and reliable employees, contribute to the economy, and pay taxes.
