Description
Caregivers was founded in 1984 by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in collaboration with various churches in the Ventura area. Our mission is to promote the health, well-being, dignity and independence of frail, home-bound elders through one-on-one relationships with trusted volunteers. Our volunteers give their services free and may include visiting, running errands, transportation to a doctor or grocery store, etc. The purpose of our program is to prevent premature institutionalization of our seniors into impersonal nursing homes and board and care facilities. Everyone wants to "age" in place and that is our goal.
