Description
In February of 2001, Jake Blair and Arthur J. Halleran, Jr. formed CampInteractive. The goals were to provide NYC's inner-city youth with technology training giving participants a creative outlet - and voice for their experiences, environmental education to connect city kids to the natural world and the environmental issues facing their generation, and a safe space to learn, grow, and build goals for the future. The first summer program started in July of 2001.
In September of 2006, CI expanded from a summer camp to a year-round program with the opening of the Tech & Trek Center in the Bronx. Using the Center as a base, CI actively engages youth throughout the year through academic tutoring, monthly outdoor trips, and technology workshops.
