Description
Camp Sunshine is a year-round National retreat in Casco, Maine for children with life threatening illnesses and their families. It is the only retreat of its kind where they offer programs for the entire family. Families with a child diagnosed with diseases such as cancer, kidney disease, lupus, solid organ transplants, Shwachman-Diamond/Aplastic Anemia, Diamond-Black fan Anemia, Fanconia Anemia, Renal, and other threatening illnesses attend a week-long session free of charge to them. They also offer a bereavement program for families that have lost a child due to an illness and a session for the 9/11 families, as well. It’s an opportunity for families to rebuild their relationship and bond with other families facing similar challenges. For children with very rare diseases, it’s the only place in the world where they can meet another child with the same illness, and feel connected.
