Description
Camp Jenny is a non-profit organization that raises money every year to send 100-150 students from Walter Francis White Elementary School to a four day camp. Camp Jenny is staffed by members of NFTY-SAR and NFTY-STR, Reform Jewish youth groups from the southeast. The staff are all volunteers and the children pay nothing to attend the camp. While at the camp the children live in cabins with the high school aged counselors. Many of them have never been away from their parents or home for such a long period of time. The campers participate in activities such as sports, swimming, rock-climbing, and arts and crafts. Most of the campers are relatively new to many of these activities, especially swimming. The campers often do not have the proper effects for camp. Many of them require bed sheets, clothes, and toiletries all of which are donated to Camp Jenny.
