Description
In Ward 8, where THEARC is located, nearly half of the children live in poverty. The Town Hall Education Arts & Recreation Campus (THEARC) opened in 2005 and is now serving more than 2,000 children and their families. Ten of Washington, DC's best nonprofit agencies are based at THEARC, including Children's National Medical Center, Covenant House Washington, The Washington Ballet, the Levine School of Music and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. Under the leadership of Building Bridges Across the River at THEARC, the mission of this unique collaborative is to provide quality cultural and social services to children and families living east of the Anacostia River. The ultimate goal of THEARC is to offer the services these families need to lead healthy and productive lives.
