Description
Founded in 1916, Breathe New Hampshire's mission is to eliminate lung disease and to help those living with lung disease in New Hampshire have a better quality of life. Originally, the focus mission was to eradicate tuberculosis. That focus has evolved over the years to include emerging lung health issues including asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, clean indoor and outdoor air, the environment, and nicotine addiction.
Breathe New Hampshire:
• educates the public about the causes of lung disease
• promotes public health policies to ensure a healthy environment for all
• provides help to those living with lung disease
Breathe New Hampshire’s many initiatives including efforts to educate child care providers about asthma and the best ways to attend to asthmatic children in their care; a statewide youth empowerment program that is intended to help keep our
youth tobacco free; and a series of free COPD screenings around the state.
