Description
New York City is one of the most diverse cities in the world yet our schools are still highly segregated. Separating children divides our communities and creates vast inequities in educational, civic, economic and social opportunities.
Since 2001, Border Crossers has built partnerships between diverse New York City schools that are blocks apart, but miles away in terms of student demographics and access to resources. Through school-based programs and community-building initiatives, we bring together young students who would not ordinarily meet to create change in their schools and neighborhoods. We organize students, teachers, school administrators, and families to create more equitable, active, and collaborative communities.
