Description
BCI of Tennessee provides leadership, information, referrals and direct advocacy support to government, community organizations and parents on issues that improve the quality of life for poor and at-risk children in TN. BCI conducts research, distributes data on issues relating to causes/indicators of children living in poverty, entering the juvenile justice and child protective service system, the under-education of children and the status of adequate health and mental health services for children. Activities, programs and projects implemented/supported by BCI are focused on improving the quality of life for TN children by reducing the number of children living in poverty, falling between cracks in our state educational and social services systems, by reducing the number of children who drop out of school, are not prepared for independent living at adulthood, placed in foster care, committing crimes, placed in juvenile facilities and out of their homes.
