Best Dawg Rescue, Inc. (DAWG) saves Washington, DC area plain, shy, or medically-needy shelter dogs who would be euthanized because they were overlooked. Approximately 97% of donated funds are used to provide medical treatment, from routine vaccinations, to orthopedic, cardiac and other specialized services. Best Dawg Rescue is not a shelter but a "cyber" rescue and adoption organization, with most of its dogs in qualified foster homes. Dogs are presented weekly at adoption shows in the Washington, DC area. Applications are selected based on a "best match" basis, and home visits and follow-up are provided to ensure the best possible adoptions. However, if an adoption fails, Best Dawg Rescue requires that the dog is returned to the organization, to be eventually readopted and NEVER returned to the shelter.
