Description
An all volunteer run food program requiring members to perform volunteer work for 2 hours a month in the community. Members are then entitled to purchase food packages at 40% less than in local supermarkets. The program is open to anyone regardless of income.
Money raised goes towards the expenes of renting a truck monthly to pick up the food that the volunteers then unload, count food, split up and then repackage to be picked up by the members who ordered the food that month.
Our program has more than 1,000 members and functions on a budget of under $4,000 per year. We have no means of income except what we are able to raise through frequent fundraisers.
