Description

BEBASHI was founded in 1985. Our mission is to provide culturally sensitive and competent information, education and direct care services to the philadelphia area community in the areas of sexual health and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. Last year, BEBASHI reached almost 15,000 individuals. Services include: educational workshops; community outreach, anonymous prevention counseling and testing for HIV, other sexually transmitted diseases and pregnancy, short term, 1:1 prevention counseling; professional social work services; a discharge planning program helping HIV + individuals, newly discharged from county, state and federal prisons; housing counseling to help HIV+ individuals to find or maintain housing; seven support groups for various populations of people living with HIV/AIDS in several areas of Philadelphia; an emergency food cupboard and distributes clothing, toiletries and household supplies when available.
