Description
Back Packs For Kids is now a three year old project with a mission to provide young school children with nutritious, easy-to-prepare foods for the weekends and long holidays. Klickitat County currently experiences poverty rates as high as 29% in some school districts, and we have one small school of 70 students where each child in the school qualifies for free or reduced lunch fees.
The Back Packs For Kids Program began the fall of 2007 serving 70 primary and Head Start children in Goldendale, Washington. Three years later we will begin the 2009 school year expecting to provide snacks to over 300 children in Goldendale, Wishram, Klickitat, Lyle, Dallesport, and White Salmon schools
