AYSL is the first of its kind in California that offers traditional sports to the special needs population and is designed for each skill level. Our program is open to children on the autism spectrum ages 3-18.
It has been proven that sports programs allow children with Autism to become more aware of their bodies and surroundings. Sports programs naturally include socialization situations which helps the children learn to interact with others.
The children at some point will be exposed to an inclusion program. It is imperative for AYSL to give the children the basic rules to a sport no matter what age or functionality. We will make necessary modifications for the functionality and ability of the child. If we can teach the children how to play a game properly this will allow the children to be less stressed as they particpate in the community, whether it is at school or home.
Autism Youth Sports League encourages parents to participate in our programs no matter what level of the spectrum their child may be on. AYSL believes that the children affected by Autism can and will "Do More Than You Think"
AYSL is seeking continuous and additional sponsorships to allow the league to create new programs and establish a fund to assist low income families so they can participate in the various programs. AYSL also offers community service hours to teens who need volunteer hours.
