Description
One of the oldest independent nonprofit environmental orgs in the Washington, DC metro area. ANS naturalists deliver hands-on- nature exploration and field trips to more than 10,000 area children annually; The ANS GreenKids programs partners with public school systems in MD and DC to help creaste Green Schools and foster environmental education; ANS advocates lead local efforts to conserve and retore habitiat, preserve green space and revive urban forests; ANS is a strong local voice for implementing and enforcing stronger clean water laws in the region, and providing developers and landscapers with solutions they need to reduce environmental impacts in our community. More than 20,000 children and adults from the DC region experience close encounters with nature at one of the ANS Nature Sanctuaries in Chevy Chase, Md, Leesbrug, VA, and Clifton, VA every year.
