The Association for Women in Science-Central Jersey Chapter (AWIS-CJC) seeks to empower and promote scientist in the local community through education, networking, leadership and opportunities.
We were established in 1995 as the local chapter of the national organization by a group of scientist from the academic and pharmaceutical sectors to build connections among like-minded people and provide regular activities to help scientists advance their careers. Since then we have held three main activities: 1. Monthly meetings at different venues within a 20 mile radius of the town of Princeton, NJ . 2. Yearly essay competition open to high school seniors heading to college and towards a scientific career. 3. Maintain a web site to post our meeting announcements and other relevant information. To date we have been run by volunteers and supported by generous contributions of sponsors.
