Description

The Association for the Visually Impaired, Inc. (AVI), a private, non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, founded in 1973, serves blind and severely visually impaired residents of Rockland and Orange Counties in New York. Services are provided on a one-to-one basis in the consumers' homes and communities. Our goal is to enable our consumers to function independently and to maximize their potential.
In addition the Association for the Visually Impaired has recently launched an Employment Placement Program for blind/visually impaired people who wish to work. An employment specialist helps blind individuals locate employment opportunities, assist with resumes, act as liaison to employers and is available to assess employment environment.
