Arzu, meaning hope in Dari, is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization pprovides steady income, education and access to health care for women and their families by sourcing and selling the rugs the women weave.
Arzu weavers sign social contracts agreeing to enroll their children (girls and boys) in school and women in literacy classes. In 2006 we began offering the same literacy course to men.
We are allowing Afghan women to take control of their futures by becoming steady wage earners and providing for their families; a major step on the road to rebuilding communities and emowering women in Afghanistan.
