Description
The Arts in Education Institute of Western New York is founded on the belief that works of art have the power to stimulate learning. Our programs bring music, theater, dance, architecture, and visual and media arts into the classroom and encourage students to use their creativity and imagination as tools for learning. Our Institute is modeled after and partners with the Lincoln Center Institute in New York City. Our Institute-trained teaching artists, work with the classroom teachers to make connections between works of art and the classroom curriculum. Our work brings together three critical classroom elements: live works of art, lessons guided by our teaching artists, and professional development and planning for classroom teachers. The AIEIWNY’s innovative programs help students develop critical thinking and problem solving skills which are increasingly important in the 21st century workplace, while also providing them with the joy of exploration.
