Description
Art With A Heart In Healthcare is an arts in healing organization that provides personalized fine art experiences to critically ill and hospitalized children.
Five days a week, either bedside or in group sessions, our talented art educators and volunteers visit pediatric healthcare settings with a wide range of art supplies to create sessions individualized to meet the needs of each child. Those we serve connect to their innate creativity and regain a sense of self-confidence that may have been displaced in their time as patients.
Our program helps to humanize the high-tech atmosphere of the clinical setting; diminish the fear, pain, boredom and depression associated with hospitalization; empower a child in an otherwise powerless situation; and, connect children and families through what is often their first art experience. Together we embark on partnership of hope.
Since its founding in 2001, the program has served over 15,000 children in more than 20,000 contact hours.
