Description

It is at the heart of Art of the Matter's mission to support experimental art forms and educational outreach. Our approach to art and education reflects our belief that art and everyday life are not in fact, separate events but that Art is the human attempt to create meaning and to introduce formal shapes and paths through the chaos of the life experience. AOTM acts as the umbrella organization for Deborah Slater Dance Theater, a professional dance/theater company; The Company She Keeps, an amateur multi-ethnic, community-based performing group; and Studio 210, a low-cost rehearsal and performance facility in continuous operation since l980 and used by a variety of Bay Area artists and arts organizations. DSDT has dedicated its efforts to the creation and production of evening-length works that explore timely social issues. Additionally, Art of the Matter acts as fiscal agent for artists and organizations that are not non-profits.
