Description
The Ark: United Ministry Outreach Center provides emergency financial assistance such as rent, utilities, prescription medicine, and other basic needs to the low-income population of Athens-Clarke and surrounding counties. The Ark helps “neighbors” to weather a brief storm caused by illness, lay offs, or reduced hours in their otherwise stable lives. Self-sufficiency and responsibility for ones own actions is foremost throughout The Ark’s policies. The Ark’s mission, “Building on the tradition of cooperation, The Ark - United Ministry Outreach Center, Inc. serves as an extension of the religious communities of the Athens-Clarke County area by responding to our neighbors who need our material and personal support” .
